A little bit about us ....

  • Who are we? A very active local group of the Ramblers' Association with about 800 members
  • Where are our members? Mainly in East Cheshire! That means from Wilmslow, Poynton and Disley in the north to Bosley in the south and from Chelford in the west to Wildboarclough in the east.
  • What do we do? We walk both locally and further afield - often in the Peak District, but also to Wales, the Lake District and many other superb walking areas. Weekends, midweek and summer evenings too!
  • Why join us? We're a sociable and welcoming club - and it's not just walks: we have coach trips, weekends away, slide shows and talks on outdoor themes plus Christmas lunches both for midweek walkers and weekenders.

How are we organised?

  • A main committee meets several times a year. Besides the essentials of keeping membership records and looking after the money, we have programme organisers who help to produce a balanced programme.
  • A footpaths subcommittee liaises with other bodies, especially the local council. Volunteers from our membership inspect local paths and report to the subcommittee - you'd be very welcome to help out!
  • A twice-yearly Programme and Newsletter keep us in touch with our members.
  • Innovative Online Information includes our Current Programme with links to Google Maps for locations and directions. (The newsletter is also available as a PDF, for members who've lost the one we posted to them!)

Want to know more?

  • Important note: new members are assigned to their nearest group unless a special request is made - so be sure to ask to join this Group!
